Virginia Call was born on February 8, 1933, in Point Pleasant, West Virginia and passed away on March 25, 2026, in Centerburg, Ohio. She was the 5th child of Louis and Clara Meldau. She grew up in West Virginia and southern Ohio and moved to Columbus with her husband and daughter in 1952. She was a stay-at-home mom and babysat for neighbors and family. When her daughter entered college Virginia took classes and obtained a real estate license. She worked as a realtor until her mother broke her hip and needed more care.
Her husband, James "Ralph" Peters, passed away in 1979 after a long battle with cancer. Virginia then went back to work at The Volunteers of America as a manager of the main thrift store on Broad Street. She met and married a widower, William Call, in 1984. Virginia and Bill made 4 driving trips in Alaska, several to Canada, Pennsylvania, and Florida before he passed away in 1989. Attending church and serving the Lord was a big part of her life. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene for over 60 years. Virginia held many positions in the church. She recently (June 2015) began attending Wesleyan Bible Holiness Church, which Virginia considered to be her church. Virginia loved to cook and try new recipes. You never knew what she might serve you. She also liked to sew, making clothing, quilts, curtains, and other things. Virginia enjoyed crafts of many kinds and was an avid reader and also loved to garden.
In addition to her husbands, Ralph and Bill, Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Clara Meldau; siblings, Fred, Dorothy, Mary, John, Robert, and Charles "Charlie", 2 nieces and 3 nephews. Virginia is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Steve Jones; sister-in-law, Judy Meldau, many nieces, nephews, and special friends.
Virginia wrote her obituary and added a personal note:
Don't weep for me. I have lived a full life and have gone to meet my Savior.
Please join me when your life is over - Much love, Virginia.
