Richard L. Cunningham Sr., age 88, of Columbus, Ohio, peacefully passed away on December 3, 2025. He proudly served as a veteran of the United States Army and dedicated 30 years of his career to Walnut Hill Cemetery and Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends.
A graduate of Central High School, Richard cherished his roots in the community. He was a passionate supporter of the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State University Football, often sharing these interests with family and friends. Above all, Richard found immense joy in his role as a grandfather, treasuring the time spent with his grandchildren and creating lasting memories.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Cunningham, as well as his parents, Edgar and Leona Cunningham, and his brothers, Robert, Harley, and Paul David Cunningham. He leaves behind his sons, Richard Cunningham Jr., Robert (Erin) Cunningham, and Andrew Cunningham; his cherished grandchildren, Tiffany, Rebecca, Tyler, and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Zach, Isaiah, and Blaze. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Tom, Larry, Sandy, and Rose, along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will deeply miss him.
