Olga McGarvey

Olga V. Kalmar McGarvey, born September 12, 1937 in Astoria, NY died on August 13, 2015 in Columbus. Olga was raised in Astoria where she graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School. Her higher education was completed at the New York Business School, Keystone College, Ohio Dominican University and Ft. Hayes Technical School.

She was a medical transcriptionist for many years before completing her dream of working in surgery. Olga worked as a surgical tech in the labor and delivery unit at Mt. Carmel West before retiring in 1999.

Olga is preceded in death by her parents, William B. Vecsey Sr. and Olga L. Vecsey; first husband of 24 years, Lt. Col. George Kalmar; second husband, John Boese, and third husband, Patrick L. McGarvey Sr.; daughter, Lori Werner; sons-in-law, Joe DeVictor and Gary Harris.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Harris, Pam (Jeff) Schilling, Sandra (John) Cataline, and Tricia DeVictor; son, Skip (Karen) Kalmar; son-in-law, Tim Werner; 15 grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Joey (Sara) Harris, Heather Werner, Brittany (Ben) Hammond, Shannon Werner, Ryan (Leslie) Schilling, Megan Schilling, Kyle Schilling, Kasey (Nikki) Kalmar, Andy Kalmar, Charlie Cataline, Jack Cataline, Nathan DeVictor, Katie DeVictor, and Alex DeVictor; great-grandchildren, Emily Harris Morgan, Camden Schilling, and Baby Kalmar; brother, Bill (Sue) Vecsey; nieces, nephews, lifelong friend Donna Schneider; many friends and extended family.

She was everything that God intended a mother to be and will be dearly missed ~

Family will receive friends Monday, August 17, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street (Prayer Service 7:30 p.m.). Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday 10 a.m. at St. Ladislas Church, 277 Reeb Ave., Columbus, OH 43207, Fr. Nicholas Droll Celebrant. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
