Michael T. McSweeney, age 78 passed peacefully on July 4th, 2021 after a battle with lung cancer. Mike was born on June 26, 1943 to Leona and John Patrick McSweeney. He is proceeded in death by his parents; brother Pat; sister Sheila; and loved sisters-in-law, Roxanne and Nancy. He is survived by his brothers, Tim McSweeney and Dan McSweeney; son Kevin (Mindy) McSweeney, daughter, Bridget (Tom) Hoban; grandchildren, Rob, Abby, Ashley, Chase, Hunter, Sean, Haley, and Heather; 16 great- grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mike attended Aquinas and South High School. He retired from Franklin County and worked part time at Donatos. He had many friends and never met a stranger. He could tell a joke like no other and his presence could fill a room. Mike always joked about donating his body to science fiction, however, they wouldn’t accept it. (LOL). Mike was an avid sports fan. He loved the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Reds, and Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He did like the Buckeyes but disliked their critical fans.
Mike loved his family and enjoyed many 4th of July holidays celebrating his, Kevin and Bridget’s birthdays. We take comfort in knowing he had the biggest birthday party going home on the 4th of July.
Family will receive friends on Friday, July 9, 2021 from 2 to 4 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High Street, Columbus 43207. A celebration of life to follow, details forthcoming and will be provided during receiving hours. To leave an online condolence on Mike’s tribute page please visit www.graumlichfuneralhome.com
