Margaret “Hazel” Lambert, born to Ed and Violet Holbrook in Wise, Virginia, on June 8, 1928, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience. She was a loving wife to Darrell “PeeWee” Lambert, whom she married in 1947. Sadly, he preceded her in death in 1965.
Hazel was the cherished daughter of Ed and Violet Holbrook and was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Carles, Shirley, Bonnie, and Sue. She is survived by her siblings Ked and Harold. She also mourned the loss of her dear son, Bobby.
She is survived by her loving sons, Darrell (Valerie) and Ralph (Evelyn), and her loving and devoted daughter, Cathy (Mike). Hazel’s family grew to include numerous grandchildren: Paul, Bobby, Eric (Loree), Teresa (Chris), Karen (Kasey), Samantha (Shawn), Joe (Kaleigh), and Shelly (Craig), along with many great-grandchildren and beloved nieces and nephews.
For nearly 50 years, Hazel worked at Schottenstein’s Department Store on Parsons Avenue, where she forged lifelong friendships. As a beloved associate, she was known for her warm smile, extensive knowledge, and genuine care for her fellow associates and customers. Throughout her long and beautiful life, Hazel filled her days with family, friends, and the joys of bluegrass music. Her garden reflected her passion for flowers, as her yard was a testament to her nurturing spirit—nothing short of perfection.
Known for her gentle nature and fierce independence, Hazel was a strong-willed woman who touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know her.
As we remember Hazel, let us celebrate her life filled with love, music, and an unwavering spirit. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved her.
