Karen Fern Dearth (Kraft), formerly of Baltimore, died March 25, 2026, at The Arbors at Carroll. Born on July 13, 1941, she was a retired registered nurse, who had served at the former Children’s Hospital of Columbus; doctors’ offices in Columbus and Baltimore; and retired from the JC Penney Distribution Center, where she addressed employees’ medical needs.
She grew up in the South End of Columbus’ Hungarian neighborhood and was the daughter of George and Ruth Kraft. She was a graduate of the Mount Carmel School of Nursing and Marion Franklin High School.
On February 13, 1965, she married Ralph Dearth, who died June 23, 2012. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Donald, and Butch.
Karen is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Dearth of Pennsylvania, and Jill (Brian) Drinkwater, of Vermont; grandchildren Emmaline, Aaron, and Layla; her best friend of 79 years, Cynthia Tinkler, and countless nieces and nephews. Karen’s family asks that family and friends consider making a donation in her name to the Mount Carmel School of Nursing Scholarship fund.
A private family graveside service will be held at Fernwood Cemetery where Karen will be laid to rest next to her husband, Ralph. Arrangements with GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43207.
