Karen Athey-Young

Karen S. Athey-Young, aged 68, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on March 3, 2026.

Karen was preceded in death by her loving parents, Eugene “Gene” and Helen Athey, her brother, Eugene “Red” Athey II, and her sister, Cheryl Clark. She is survived by her devoted husband, Raymond “Gene” Young, as well as her cherished children: Amanda (Juels) Young, Stacy (Zachary) Thorne, Bryan (Tabitha) Thorne, and Joanna (Adam) Pyers. Karen also leaves behind a legacy of love through her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also survived by her brother, Steve (Lori) Athey, and sister, Paula (Lee) Whitt, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and her best friend, Tee Sáng who will greatly miss her. 

A graduate of Columbus South High School, Class of 1975, Karen had a passion for community involvement, notably participating in the Susan G. Komen walk throughout the years. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly enjoying visits to yard sales. Karen's warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her spirit lives in the hearts of her family and friends, who celebrate her life and the love she shared. 

Family will receive friends, Friday, March13, 2026, beginning at 11 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High St., Columbus, Ohio, 43207 with Chaplain Lloyd Markley officiating.
