John Martin

John W. Martin, of Columbus, born January 4, 1922 died on October 30, 2016. Member of St. Paul United Church of Christ. U.S. Army Veteran WWII. Retired from Conard Lang Concrete Co. after 42 years as accountant. John then worked 17 years as a mail carrier for Senior Centers through Parks and Recreation. Graduated from Columbus South High School, January Class of 1940, where he was on the wrestling team. He then wrestled at YMCA until he retired from wrestling and started swimming. John was an avid swimmer and loved to walk.

Preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Rosalie Martin; Survived by wife of 72 years, Bertha Martin; son, Don Martin; grandsons, Brett (Amanda) Martin and Ryan (Tracy) Martin; great-grandchildren, Mason, Camden, Zach, and Annelyn; brother, Bill Martin.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Thursday 10 a.m., Pastor Alan Hicks officiating. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
