Howard Bailey

Howard L. Bailey, 85, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, August 27, 2017 in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. He was born May 11, 1932 to Frank and Pearl Bailey in Princeton, West Virginia. He graduated from Columbus South High School and Ohio Technical Institute in Columbus, Ohio and served our country in the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy. On November 3, 1956 he married Dorothy (Grgich) Bailey of Columbus, Ohio.

Howard was retired from CSX Railroad, enjoyed fishing, golfing and the Buckeyes but was always, first and foremost, a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Dorothy; his 2 daughters, Karen (Jim Young) Huffman and Susan Bailey; Son, Howard H. (Cathy Alberts) Bailey; grandchildren, Valerie Nafzger, Melissa (Jon Ribbing) Bailey, Ashlynn and Ava Bailey, Nicholas and Kira Weisend, Danielle Hess, Allison Castle, Zack and Jordann Pruden; great grandchildren Damian Bailey, Kaleb and Jadyn Ribbing; sister-in-law, Sophia Grgrich; special relationships with his nieces and nephews, all relatives and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother James (Rebecca) Bailey; and sister Betty (John) Lucijanic.

A time of gathering will be held on Friday, September 1, 2017 from 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. at the GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, located at 1351 South High St. in Columbus, Ohio, where service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 10 a.m., Fr. James Ogurchock officiating. Howard will be laid to rest at the Glen Rest Memorial Cemetery. Please visit www.graumlichfuneralhome.com to sign and view online guest book.
