Evelyn Blessing , 94 years old, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, in Gahanna, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 3, 1931, in Greenup, Kentucky, Evelyn's life was marked by her devotion to her family.
Evelyn's family moved to Mancelona, MI where she grew up, but later moved to Columbus after the death of her father. In the 1950s, she took a position at Bell Sound, where she found great joy in wiring guitar amplifiers. This role perfectly aligned with her love for music, especially country music. Later, she served as the office manager at Blessing & Sons Plumbing for many years.
A talented artist, Evelyn adored ceramics and quilting, often sharing her creative spirit with family and friends. She also took immense pride in assisting her son, Mark, with various theater productions.
Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles W. Blessing.; her parents, Thomas and Mary Bundy, sisters Elizabeth Virgin, Loise Dillow, Geneva Dillon, baby sister Dorothy, and her eldest son Charles W. “Chuck” Blessing II.
She is survived by her son, Mark (Deborah) Blessing; her grandchildren, Cody (Lacie) Blessing and Emily (Chris) Tabor; and her treasured great-granddaughter, Isabella Buckmaster. Evelyn also leaves behind her devoted grand dog, Dozer, and several nieces, nephews, and extended family who cherished her deeply.
For Evelyn, family meant everything. She relished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-granddaughter, creating lasting memories that will continue to resonate within the hearts of those she leaves behind.
As we reflect on Evelyn's life, we remember her fierce spirit, creativity, and unyielding love for her family. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will forever remain a guiding light in the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Family will receive friends Sunday, January 11, 2026, from 3-6 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Columbus, OH. 43207 where funeral service will be held Monday, January 12, 2026, at 11:00 am with Pastor Snowden Gene Sims officiating. Interment to follow at Obetz Cemetery.
