Eugene II

Eugene S. "Red" Athey, age 64, of Columbus, passed away March 9, 2014 after a long courageous battle with cancer. Graduate of South High School Class of 1968 and of Franklin University, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree. He was employed with the HT Hackney Company. Red enjoyed spending time at Planks with friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Eugene S. "Gene" Athey and nephew, Errol Reynolds. Red is survived by his mother, Helen Athey; siblings, Cheryl (Michael) Clark, Steven (Lori) Athey, Karen (Gene) Young, and Paula (Lee) Whitt; many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation Thursday March 13, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Friday 10 a.m., Chaplain Lloyd Markley officiating.
