Dorothy Larger

d. December 17, 2016

Dorothy Evelyn (Copas) Larger passed to the Church Triumphant on December 17, 2016. She was born in Columbus, Ohio in 1927 to the late George W. Copas and Ruth Helen (Geisler) Copas. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Robert M. Larger, whom she wed on August 25, 1946. She is survived by a son, Mark A. Larger (Joyce), her daughter and son-in-law, Linda A. Larger and Ralph M. Metzger, and a granddaughter, Sarah. She is also survived by Goddaughters, Lisa Tufts and Madison Tufts, several favorite cousins and dear friends William and Kathy Scott.

Dorothy was a proud South High School Bulldog, Class of 1945. She retired from the Franklin County Board of Elections and was a member of the Franklin County Republican Central Committee for many years representing Columbus Ward 35. She was a Past Matron of Southern Way Chapter (now Beacon Chapter) of the Order of Eastern Star. For much of her lifetime she was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Obetz, Ohio, and later a faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church in Bexley.

Dorothy lived a life of volunteerism and service to others in many organizations related to Eastern Star, her children's schools in PTA, and at church as a Sunday school and vacation bible school teacher. She was a kindhearted lover of animals, always fed the wild birds, and had many pets that were like family to her. Never a stray or homeless pet crossed her path that she didn't try to help. She will be missed by her surviving kitty cats. She was the last surviving member of the Marion Township Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary which later became Crest 10 of Alum Crest Hospital as a volunteer service group. She enjoyed traveling on many cruises with her friends and spending time in Cedarville, Michigan where she first vacationed in 1947 and continued to visit year after year with her family.

Dorothy loved Christmas and was enthusiastic about her Christmas decorating, cookie baking, giving gifts and preparing fabulous dinners. The family is thankful for the caregivers at Oakleaf Village and The Ashford on Broad for their compassion and dedication over the past six months.
