Delores "Gayle" Chapman

Delores "Gayle" Chapman, age 80 of Columbus, Ohio went to be with the Lord on January 27, 2023, after a long courageous battle with dementia.  Gayle was born on May 31, 1942 in Huntington West Virginia. She attended Barboursville High School and Marshall University. She married Doyl Chapman, the love of her life on January 15, 1964. Shortly after, they moved to Columbus where they raised their family and spent 51 years together. Gayle loved spending time with her family playing cards and board games, fishing, and going on picnics. She always enjoyed reading and writing short stories. She and her husband served as members at the Lions Club.

In addition to her husband Doyl, Gayle is preceded in death by her parents, Lonnie and Luvenia Poynter; brothers, Roland "Hody" Poynter, Ronald "Buddy" Poynter; sisters, Dessie Nichols, and Marilyn Edmonds. Gayle is survived by her children, Delona (Dale) Joiner, Sandy (Jim) Rogers, Michael (Christina) Chapman; brother, Bill (Sue) Poynter; sister-in-law, Betty Poynter; grandchildren, April Merda, Nik Rogers, Ashley Herman, Brandon Rogers, and Chris Rogers; great-grandchildren, Carson, Cameron, Kayden, Cadence, Case, and Scarlet; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday February 1, 2023, beginning at 11:30 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43207, Pastor Dale George officiating. Entombment to follow at Franklin Hills Memory Gardens, Canal Winchester, Ohio.
