Daniel McKown

d. November 13, 2014

Daniel Webster McKown of Columbus, Ohio, age 84 went to be with Jesus on November 13, 2014. Preceded in death by parents Daniel A McKown and Bertha Rhodes McKown Atchley, wife, Leola McKown, son, Scott Andrew McKown and sister, Betty Heite. He is survived by son John Daniel (Lisa) McKown, daughters Joyce (Frank) McKown Schneider and Lori (Mark) McKown Wood. Grandchildren Kellie (John) Patton, John Daniel (Kelly) McKown, Jr., Terra (Robert) Schulz, Adam (Kim) McKown, Jeanna (John) Diederich, Kelly Wood, Rae Marie (Thomas) Harper; Ryan Michelle (Ryan) Pettit, and Jordan (Joshua) Kapsch, Kenneth (Renee') Houseman, Nicholas Houseman, eighteen great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Daniel retired from Janitrol- Midland Ross and The Grove City Christian Childcare Center. He and Lee were members of South High EUB church, where they raised their family and later attended Washington Av. United Methodist Church and Grove City Church of the Nazarene. Dan could always be counted on for a good joke, words of wisdom, gallons of ice cream in the freezer and a hug on a bad day. Dan loved family vacations at Holden Beach, being the "all time" quarterback at every family Thanksgiving football game, and the ability to repair anything. Every grandchild remembers trips with Grandpa to the river to feed the ducks. His humor, love for family and strong silent presence will be greatly missed. A special thank you to the Carriage Court of Hilliard Assisted Living facility, the Laurels of Hilliard Care facility and Gentiva Hospice. Family will receive friends Tuesday, November 18, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., where service will be held Wednesday 10 a.m., Rev. Lori Wood and his grandchildren will be officiating. Interment and graveside service to follow at Obetz Cemetery officiated by Pastor Brad Kochis.
