Charles “Charlie” L. Meldau Sr., age 97, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. A devoted man of faith, Charlie was an active and dedicated member of the Obetz Church of the Nazarene for many years. He proudly served his country as a veteran in both the U.S. Army and Navy during the Korean War and was a longstanding member of Teamsters Local Union. Charlie had a passion for reading and was a devoted fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes. He cherished his family deeply and is remembered fondly by those whose lives he touched.
He is preceded in death by his beloved son, Charles “Chuck” L. Meldau Jr., daughter, Kathy, his parents, William and Clara Meldau, and his siblings, Fred, Dorothy, Mary, John and Robert. Charlie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Judith “Judy” Meldau, whom he loved and adored; his children, Eric Meldau, Susan (Steve) Martin, Tim Meldau, and Linda Meldau; grandchildren, Raven Hamilton (Michael), Mackenzie Hamilton (Johnny), Ethan Martin (Addy) and Lauren Martin (Chris); great-grandchildren, Ryder, Wyatt, Lucas, Charlie, Ellie, Roman, Lilly, Oliver; sister, Virginia Call. along with many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 South High Street, Columbus, OH 43207, where the funeral service will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 11 a.m., officiated by Pastor Guiles Richardson and Rev.
