Peggy Blakeman

Peggy Ann Blakeman, age 86 rejoined her love of 67 years on August 11, 2021 at her home in Carroll, OH.  She is preceded in death by her husband Frank and son Bill.  Peggy was one of seven children, born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia and even though she moved to Ohio at the age of 15, she carried her southern accent to the end.  Peggy dedicated her life  to being a caregiver of her family and the many people who knew her including the members of Scioto Trail Swim Club, that she co-owned with Frank for 37 years, along with bringing care and comfort as a volunteer to Doctor’s Hospital North for 30 years.  She loved the color red, the movie Steel Magnolias, flowers, George Strait and especially John Wayne.  For years, she was “queen” of Great Southern Shopping Center where everyone knew “Mrs. B.” Peggy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and sister.  She is survived by her son, Robert (Dawn) Blakeman of Columbus, and daughter, Barbara Blakeman-Matos of Carroll,; grandchildren, Jennifer Richards, Julie (Doug) Purdy, Anthony Blakeman, Kaylie Burnette, Chelsie (Daniel) McClelland, Grant Bickham; 14 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Sandra McCoy and sister-in-law Pat DeWitt, and many nieces, and nephews.  Peggy’s legacy of love, guidance, and southern spirit will continue on with all of those who knew her.

Family will receive friends on Monday August 16, 2021, from 3 to 7 pm at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S.
