Ed Tucker, 86, of Obetz, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on August 17, 2026.

Ed was born in Athens, Ohio and later made his home in Obetz, where he built a life centered around family, community, and his lifelong love of Hamilton Township.

A proud graduate of Hamilton Township High School, Class of 1957, Ed distinguished himself as a student-athlete, participating in football, basketball, and track. His dedication to athletics and his lasting impact on Hamilton Township earned him induction into the Hamilton Township Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.

Ed continued to serve his community long after his high school years. He devoted many years to supporting Hamilton Township athletics and activities through the Ranger Booster Program. He also served 12 years on the Hamilton Local Board of Education, including a term as Board President.

In 1962, Ed served as an Army Reservist at Fort Knox, Kentucky, working in low-speed radio operations. He later enjoyed a long career with Lucent Technologies, retiring in 1994.

He is survived by his wife, Crystal Tucker; his children, Kelly Tucker Raney (Bill Raney), Jeff Tucker (Yvonna), and Tracy Tucker; his stepchildren, Travis Wright (Brittany) and Trevor Wright.

He was a proud grandfather to Marcus (Erin) Reed, Megan (Ethan) Whitlock, Will (Bree) Raney, Nathan Raney, Brent (Megan), Britny (Richie), Presley, Kennedi, Brianna, Camren, Landen, Tyler Jenkins and Romy Wright.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Grayson Whitlock, Carson and Kiera Reed, Iyla Raney, Marly, and Lyla.

Ed was preceded in death by his father, Louis Tucker Sr.; his mother, Betty Tucker; sister, Judy Nott; and his son, Terry Tucker.

Louis will be remembered not only for his accomplishments, but for the countless ways he showed up for the people and community he loved. His commitment to Hamilton Township athletics, his service to the community, and his devotion to his family leave a lasting legacy that will continue through generations. He was proud of his Hamilton Township roots and never stopped supporting the school and its students. His love of sports was lifelong. He wasn’t necessarily devoted to one particular team; he simply loved the games themselves. His passion for athletics was a thread that ran throughout his life, from his own days as a Hamilton Township athlete to the many years he spent supporting generations of Rangers. Ed had a personality all his own. He loved to joke, could find humor in just about anything and was never afraid to share his opinion or a good joke. He might have been considered an “acquired taste” by some, but for those who knew and loved him, there was no one quite like him. And if you were lucky enough to be one of his people, you didn’t just like Ed, you loved him.

His humor, his opinions, his love of sports, and his unmistakable personality will be deeply missed and remembered with plenty of stories.

Memorial service will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Hamilton Township High School Auditorium, located at 1105 Rathmell Road, Columbus, Ohio 43207.
