Joyce Marie Berlo, 79, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away on July 22, 2026. She was born July 23, 1946, in Mansfield, Ohio, to Wilbert and Pearl (Rieder) Berlo.
Joyce built a career grounded in curiosity and hard work. In 1967, she joined Battelle Memorial Institute as a research technician, where she spent 27 years. In 1996, she took a leap and started her own graphic design business, a venture she loved and ran for the next 30 years.
Joyce's heart belonged to three things: family, sports, and a little fun at the casino. She was fiercely loyal to the people she loved. Endlessly optimistic and kind, Joyce was a patient and steady force. She was game for just about any adventure, especially if it included family and friends. For 28 years, she coached women's softball and basketball, a role that brought her tremendous joy - not for the wins, but for the relationships with her players and the friendships that lasted long after the games ended.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Mary Kay. She is survived by her siblings, Richard Berlo, Shirley Pollock (Jerry), and Donna Berlo; her nieces, Marilyn, Diane, Cathy, and Cindy; and her best friend of 60 years, Melanie Finfrock.
A celebration of life to honor Joyce will be held at a later date. Joyce was a devoted animal lover and donations can be made to honor her memory to 'Pets Without Parents'.
Joyce will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
