Barbara Jean Murphy, age 91, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on August 5, 2026. She was born on September 13, 1934 in Mingo County in West Virginia. The daughter of the late French and Elva (Gollie) Hatfield. She married the love of her life, Lon Murphy Jr., on June 6, 1953, and was married for 53 years. 

Barbara was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at VFW Post 495 and worked in the kitchen for the VFW hosted events. Barbara enjoyed preparing meals for her family and spending time with them and was an Ohio State Buckeye Fan. 

Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Lon Murphy Jr., sisters, Ruby Weiner, Opal Thompson, Geneva Grimes, and Maxine Weaver; brothers-in-law, Rich Weiner, Jerry Thompson, and son-in-law, Michael Evans. Barbara is survived by daughter, Audrey Evans of Columbus, OH., sons, Jeffrey Murphy of Columbus, OH., and Michael (Theresa) Murphy of Upper Arlington, OH; sisters, Wanda (Russell) Moore of Hamilton, OH., Sharon (Bruce) Adams of Coply, OH., and brother, Dwaine (Sarah) Hatfield of Wilmington, OH. Barbara had 4 grandchildren, Mark (Carly) Evans of Grandview Heights, OH., Jason (Amber) Murphy of Columbus, OH., Connor Murphy of Upper Arlington, OH., Ian Murphy of Coppel, Texas; 4 great-grandchildren, Lizzy, Kael, Kallan, and Chase; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Barbara lived a full life and lived it the way she wanted to. She was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Visitation, Friday August 14, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at GRAUMLICH FUNERAL HOME, 1351 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43207, Chaplain Misty Moore officiating. Interment to follow at Green Lawn Cemetery, Columbus, Ohio.
