Frances Morgan

February 19, 1919 — June 17, 1938

Frances M. Donley Morgan, born February 19, 1919 to Dorcas B. and Francis M. Johnson. Graduate as valedictorian from Carbon Hill High School in 1937. Mom met Dad after she moved to Columbus to attend cosmetology school. Frances Marion Johnson married Herbert Woodrow Donley on June 17, 1938. Two sons were born of this union: Ronald A. and Dana J. Donley. Dad passed away of the fatal Hodgkin's disease in 1953.

With two sons to raise Mom knew she would need to go to work. She was awarded a scholarship from her high school and entered the cadet teaching program for Columbus Public Schools at Capital University. The program allowed participants to teach early while they completed their studies, which Mom did in 1962. She taught in Columbus for twenty five years at Siebert, Koebel and Southwood Elementary schools. After many years as a widow, Mom married E.H. Morgan in 1968. Zeke died early in 1977. She filled her time with church, crocheting, quilting, and shopping for deals until health issues slowly eliminated each activity. Mom was a member of St. Paul's E.&R./U.C.C. for more than seventy five years.

Also preceded in death by all of her siblings and theirs spouses; brothers, Ralph, Earl, John, and youngest brother, Dana who was killed in WWII; her sisters, Edna Carlin and Lucille Hubbard. Last summer she lost her oldest great-grandson, Josh Donley, son of Sean Donley. Left to survive are her sons, Ron and his wife Libby, and Dana and his wife Nancy. Her surviving grandchildren are Sean, wife Deb and her children, Krystina and Henry; Christopher, wife Jessica and children Bradley and Emma. Dana and Nancy's daughters, Frances Sanderell, husband Tony and children, Ian, Hannah, Aiden, and Noah; Karen Jonas, husband Rich and children Richard, wife Martina and Kara. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Per Mom's wishes there will be a graveside service Friday, July 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Pastor Alan Hicks officiating.
