Women Owned Funeral Home Columbus Ohio

What We Do

Andrea Graumlich & Leigh Graumlich are fourth generation funeral directors who value getting to know our families during their difficult time of grief. Through building trust and a connection with our families, we perform the important next steps with empathy and dignity. We are proud to serve families in the following communities: Canal Winchester, Grove City, Pickerington, Reynoldsburg, Groveport, and more. Compassionately caring for these families is what we have been called to do, and one of the ways we achieve that is through three defined steps:

Plan

Whether families are planning ahead or need to make arrangements for an unexpected loss, we work to devise a thorough and thoughtful plan that meets the specific needs and budget of the family.

Partner

Funeral and memorial services should be personal and a reflection of the loved one being honored and what each family values.  We work in collaboration with the families we serve to make funeral and cremation service arrangements that meet the specific personal desires to fulfill their vision.

Perform

We manage and perform all the components of the funeral & cremation service as agreed to in the plan we create together so families can focus their attention on their loved ones.

Our History

In 1862, when Columbus was just a village, James Taylor, and Wesley O'Harrah opened a funeral business on the southeast corner of State and Third Streets, where the Old Columbus Post Offices were built. The building still stands today, and was restored into law offices in the mid 1900s. In 1865, Taylor and O'Harrah oversaw the local funeral arrangements for President Abraham Lincoln. The President's body lay in state in the Rotunda of the Ohio State House.

After the death of both Taylor and O'Harrah in 1908, the practice was carried on by Mrs. Mary (Taylor) Fisher, daughter of Mr. Taylor. Jewell Clarke served as Manager. The business was incorporated in the name of Taylor-Clarke and relocated to 101 Parsons Avenue. In 1915, August Kiger Graumlich I, purchased the business and continued the services. Mrs. Mary Taylor-Fisher served as a licensed lady embalmer until her death in 1928.

Meet Lexie

One very special staff member at Graumlich Funeral Home is Lexie, an English Labrador. Lexie belongs to Andrea, and she is a loving gentle dog bringing warm smiles to all who visit. Lexie has brought a source of comfort to the families and their friends who we serve.

"I have found that when you are deeply troubled there are things you get from the silent devoted companionship of a dog

that you can get from no other source."
